I should just forgo any other writing and solely dedicate this site to Hanna, she has some pretty crazy adventures. Dan, Hanna and I were out at the annual Regulatory and Environment Group bbq on Saturday. The bbq is held at an acreage south of Calgary owned by a coworkers parents who graciously allow us to visit for a day and enjoy the peacefulness and beauty of fall in the country. As usual a perfect sunny day had been chosen for the bbq and we all met early in the afternoon out at the acreage. Before getting down to bbq’ing we all decided to go for a little hike around the hills and enjoy the sunshine. Hanna and a couple other dogs that were attending were all excited to go off adventuring. Hanna is pretty good about staying with a group especially if there are other dogs so she would run off ahead and not stray too far. Our walk proceeded to the fence line of the property and the neighbouring land was home to a small herd of cattle. The cows had moved to a different area of the pasture so we didn’t see them on our walk, but you could tell that they had been there at some point but the large pies they left behind. Hanna didn’t let the barb fence stop her and ventured into the neighbours land. Now Hanna does have a tendency to taste everything she finds and we didn’t expect once she found these brown pies on the ground that this would be any exception. We don’t encourage her exploratory tastes so we did our best to call her back before she tasted too much. Unfortunately we didn’t call her back fast enough for what was to come next. Instead of just a taste we watched in horror as she lie down and proceed to push herself through the brown pile. We were disgusted even further when she stood back up to reveal a large brown smear down her entire chest, across her legs and all over her collar. Oh Hanna! After that we managed to get her back over the fence…without touching her!…and continued on the walk. I certainly hoped she enjoyed that, because I cant imagine being washed off with the freezing cold outdoor tap water once we returned to the house was all that pleasant. She didn’t do that a second time when we went for another walk later in the afternoon. We were thankful for that.
