I have finally paid off all my student loans. I feel really proud of myself to have accomplished this. It was suppose to take me ten years but in the past year and a half I was able to increase my payment substantially so it only took me about eight years. Of course, the bank got every little penny they were owed. Two weeks ago I authorized the remaining amount to come out of my account so the loan could be closed off. I checked the loan balance on the weekend to be sure that it was all taken care of. The majority of it was, all but $0.01. I was hoping this was just a mistake. Why would they leave that much? I envisioned going into the bank and closing it in person with my penny in hand. I also thought that maybe they would just ignore it and close the account anyways. Well, last night I checked my bank account and wouldn’t you know it, there was a withdrawal of $0.01 from the bank. It made me laugh, I appreciate that it is their right to that money and they can’t just be giving away pennies to everyone, but I wonder how much it cost them to retrieve that last bit of my loan. Whatever, I am jusy happy its all done.
to bad it wasn’t $.02 then you could have given them your two cents!
